Not everyone is very much acquainted with how children’s literature, just like any normal genre, is also diverse in its own way. It’s important to expose your child with literary materials or something that invigorates their creativity in them. It helps them appreciate the beauty of art and literature. Learn the types of children’s literature that can help you determine which one is beneficial for a particular age.

 • Picture books

These are books for young kids or toddlers who are about to learn to read yet. It is illustrated with pictures alone, and often it comes with minimal phrases or text. It can be in any genre and is categorized according to its format. Among the famous picture books are The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss, The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter, and Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey.

 • Fantasy Fiction

Fantasy fiction is novelty books that are also appropriate for children or teenagers. It tackles more on the eccentric and enchanted phenomenon. One great example is the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling.

 • Realistic Fiction

Realistic fiction can be through a form of historical or based on real accounts. Classified among this genre are mystery, adventures, sports, humor, or coffee table books that suggest real characters and events.

 • Traditional Literature

This has a sense of fantasy feels with a mixture of legends, ancient stories, folklore, and myths. This is often portrayed with a primary concept of moral lessons and such. It also depicts a literary heritage of humankind.

 • Poetry and Verse

While there is poetry written for adults, there are ones written for children to be understood and learned as well. It still maintains a poetry’s normal rhythmic rule, metaphorical or figurative, and imaginative expressions.

Children’s literature or being a children’s book author isn’t as easy as you think. You have to adjust to their way of thinking and fast to cope up with anything that needed your attention.
